About Us

Sage Homes, Inc. was founded in 2001 by professional carpenters and tradesmen. Its offices and custom wood/metal fabrication shop are located in Plymouth, Minnesota. We provide design/build, remodeling and new construction to the greater Minneapolis metro area. We have industry recognized in-house design capability and in-depth structural experience. This experience and professionalism, combined with a practical look at construction technology and materials, gives you the best value in town. At the heart of our business is a simple philosophy that drives everything we do: Create great value for our customers.

Key Staff

Eric Stendahl
Sales & Administrative

Eric founded Sage Homes in 2001. With a military and accounting background, he runs a tight ship. He is a man who wears many hats, to say the least! On top of running this business, he provides consulting and mediation services to attorneys whose clients are in dispute with builders, and is also the president of Hearts and Hammers – a Twin Cities-based charity organization that assists the disadvantaged with repairing and painting their homes. Eric enjoys flying and can often be found in the sky when he’s not working.

John Paul
Master Carpenter and Job Supervisor
JP (as he's known) joined the Sage Homes team in 2003. He was raised in the cabinet industry and has owned his own business. John spends much of his free time with his kids and grand kids. WARNING: If you ask him about hockey, be prepared for an extended conversation!

Matt Standal
Carpenter II
Matt has been with Sage Homes since 2010. Matt is a school educated Carpenter. He has extensive experience in exterior finish systems and is most recently expanding his skill set beyond carpentry to include tile setting and other trade skills perform for our clients. Our employees have multiple trade skills and Matt is well on his way to being well-rounded. At 6’7”, Matt doesn’t need a ladder very often.
Melanie Trachsel
Interior Designer

Melanie joined the Sage Homes team in 2016, but is not new to the industry. She has been designing residential and commercial spaces for over 16 years. The only thing she loves more than a well-designed space is working with clients, as a team, to create beautiful, functional solutions. Melanie helps clients figure out what they like, need, and want, and does it in a professional, fun and fiscally-responsible way. When not decorating, she enjoys spending time with her husband and sweet little boys, running, painting and traveling.

Martha Shelley
Administrative Manager
Martha keeps things orderly at Sage Homes. She completed her first career as a Radiological Technician and now gives Sage Homes as much time as her busy social schedule allows. Martha was a customer first, then came to work for us. When she is not at work, you can probably find her in the beautiful kitchen we built for her. Martha is an excellent cook and baker. Her treats are often found at our office.


Serving Our Community

At Sage Homes, we believe volunteering and helping others is an important aspect to a quality company and a healthy way of life. We actively support Hearts and Hammers – Twin Cities by donating our time and materials to perform carpentry repairs and maintenance on homes. Hearts and Hammers organizes teams of volunteers to paint and perform landscaping for low income, elderly and disadvantaged homeowners. Sage Homes performs carpentry repairs to their homes prior to Hearts and Hammers performing painting and landscaping. We've donated approximately 240 hours of carpentry time since 2012.
